Date Night #86: The Best Things to do this Week

Jessica Coyle/ Leave a Comment/ 1953

Oooh things are starting to get a little bit SPOOKY! Halloween’s coming, so enjoy some scary flicks, a ghostly rap battle, and a bunch of dogs dressing in elaborate costumes. Okay, that’s not so scary. OR IS IT?!?

Fri 21: Nosferatu w’ LIVE Organ PLUS Dracula’s Daughter -Together!

Loew’s Jersey Theatre, 54 Journal Sq, Jersey City, 8:00 PM – 10:45 PM, $13 blog1Take the train into Jersey City for a double-feature of spooky delights, featuring an actual organ player just in ye oldy time days! Did you even know that Dracula had a daughter? I never knew he was a family man!

Fri 21: Hip Hip De-BOOO!!

The Triple Crown Ale House & Restaurant, 330 7th Ave, 9:30 PM – 11:00 PM, Free blog2See those two ghosts fighting above? That’s what this night is going to be like. Participants are given a topic to “debate,” which they do by freestyle rapping to beats provided by the hosts. This one has a ~spooky~ theme, so bring your best rhymes or just watch as rappers murder each other with their words!

Sat 22: Halloween Dog Parade

Tompkins Square Park, 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM, Free blog3IT’S HERE AGAIN! The Christmas of dog events is finally, once more, here upon us. Be amazed as you are confronted with the utmost doggie styles, from a dog dressed as a T-rex to another dog dressed as Donald Trump, which I assume will be a popular choice. Spend a day in pure canine delight.

Sat 22nd: National Pantsuit Day

Lower Manhattan Park (TBD), 3:00 PM, Free (but for the cost of a pant suit) blog4Look, it’s no secret that Mesh is with ^ her. If you’re not, that’s okay too, but we’re going to throw on some pant suits and join a parade of support in the best, most comfortable formal attire God has granted upon nasty women everywhere.

Sat 22nd: Latin Jazz Night at BAM Cafe

The Brooklyn Academy of Music, 30 Lafayette Ave, 9:00 PM – 11:00 PM, Free blog5In the mood for a little culture? It’s time for some Spanish, Afro-Cuban, South and Central American, and Brazilian composers.

Sun 23: DeepBeats: Deep House Yoga

House of Yes, 2 Wyckoff Ave, Brooklyn, 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM, $20 blog5It can be tough to get motivated to go to yoga class. I own two yoga mats myself, but I haven’t been to yoga in… two… years? Wow, that’s sad. Perhaps this event, which combines yoga with pumpin’ jams and free refreshments, will be just what I need to get back into the bendin’ and the posin’.

Powerhouse Arena, 28 Adams St, Brooklyn, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Free blog1Reductress has established itself as the feminist onion, with women blogging on such topics as 4 Ways Trump Might Concede That’s Some Shit Your Ex Would Pull and ‘Finding Nemo’ Isn’t The Feminist Tour de Force That I Remember. The creators are now out with a book, and they’ll be signing it for you this Tuesday!

Weds 26: A Drinking Game NYC Presents: Hocus Pocus

Littlefield, 622 Degraw St, Brooklyn, 7:30 (doors), 8:00 (movie), $10 The Nosferatu of the early 1990s! If you’re me, or someone like me, you were OBSESSED with this movie as a kid. It had everything you could want: funny ladies, spooky music, the intriguing word “virgin,” and a cute kitty that turned into a ~cute boy~. Enjoy actors playing along with the movie and a drinking game with some of your favorite lines!взять срочный займ на карту без отказавзять кредит онлайн
